Invitation

On behalf of the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC), the User Executive Committee (UEC) sincerely invites you to participate and present your research results in the 28th Users' Meeting & Workshops from August 30 to September 1, 2022.

On August 30 (Tue.), the meeting will begin with briefings on the current operation status and prospects of NSRRC. Then you can communicate face-to-face with the UEC Chair and NSRRC Director about user services and facility development of NSRRC during the Users' Town Meeting. In the afternoon, invited PI speakers from various fields will share their latest research results. Subsequently, students' oral presentations will compete for the "Glory of Taiwan Award". Poster presenters will have a chance to win both "Poster Awards" and "Best Popularity Awards". Presenters who compete for "Poster Awards" must stand by their posters and explain their results to the juries in the poster sessions on Day 1 and Day 2. Meanwhile, the "Best Popularity Awards" winners will be determined by ballot. The winners of both competitions will be announced at the banquet on Day 2.

On the morning of August 31 (Wed.), the widely beloved NSRRC Road Running will be held. Later the day, more invited user research presentations will be given. This year (Aug. 31), an interest group meeting that provides in-depth discussions on Environmental Sciences is called for one of the future developing directions of synchrotron-related research and techniques.

As NSRRC is launching the cross-field collaboration projects on energy/semiconductor and quantum materials/precision biomedicine, two workshops with related topics will take place in parallel on September 1 (Thu.); the topics of the workshops are summarized as follows.

Workshop I:

Synchrotron for Cross-disciplinary Research in Biology

Synchrotron provides a high flux X-ray source, and since 2005, NSRRC has played a key role in protein crystallography research. TPS 05A, newly opened TPS 07A beamlines, and TPS 11A (planning phase), will continue providing state-of-art technologies to our protein crystallography community. In addition, NSRRC has also developed a biological small-angle X-ray scattering (BioSAXS) beamline (TPS 13A) and soft X-ray tomography imaging beamline (TPS 24A) to integrate other methods for challenging projects. We will hear the latest protein crystallography results and users' experiences using BioSAXS and soft X-ray tomography for cross-disciplinary research through this workshop.

Workshop II:

Advanced Applications of Synchrotron Characterizations on Novel Energy Materials and Low-dimensional Semiconductors

In the past decade, synchrotron radiation techniques have significantly boosted the development of novel energy materials and low-dimensional semiconductors. NSRRC plays a crucial role in fundamental research and applied science. This workshop will demonstrate state-of-the-art synchrotron technology and the development of novel materials, including halide perovskites, quantum dots, graphene, and the transition metal dichalcogenide family for energy applications. Additionally, we will share user experiences and seek their suggestions for future research in cutting-edge science and industrial applications.

We welcome you to attend the 28th Users' Meeting & Workshops. Please register online and submit your 1-page poster abstract at https://nsrrc-usermeeting2022.conf.tw/to?en by June 30 (Thu.).

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the meeting!
